Bio

Monia Meluzzi is an Italian artist who works to raise awareness on several aspects of society such as the environment, war and justice. Many of her works reflect her feelings about social injustice, the destruction left by wars and the general suffering of unfortunate people. She is also known for her landscape, building and city view drawings on pen and her use of materials such as coffee, gesso and salt.

Meluzzi was born in 1991 in Rimini, a small city in the northeast of Italy by the Adriatic Sea to Italian father and Dominican mother. At a very young age she was exposed to a dual sense of citizenship and culture having visited the Caribbean Island in various occasions.

Before she was 6 years old, Meluzzi discovered a passion for drawing and kept working to improve until 2011 when she earned her Diploma di Maturità Artistica (Artistic Maturity Degree) in her hometown of Rimini. A year later she started traveling to the United States to know the country and diversify even more her multicultural interests until 2015 when she moved definitely to one of the most international hubs in the world: Miami, Florida.

Once settled in America, Meluzzi worked on her Associate’s Degree in Arts at Miami Dade College while teaching painting for children at a local school and then transferred to Florida International University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree. Today, Monia Meluzzi continues on her effort to become an independent artist who can play an important role in creating conscience in society.
